About
I have always been a creative person, first inventing stories for my younger sister, then for my children. When I wasn't creating tales, I was usually drawing, painting, or coloring.
I was an Art major experimenting with several mediums before entering the workforce as a graphic designer and briefly as a librarian and muralist.
My first book, The Bad Mood Monster, was written for my children several years ago. I tucked the story away in a desk drawer until I found the courage to pursue publication. After that, writing and co-illustrating Benny's Blanket didn't seem so overwhelming. My most recent book, Marvelous Mismatched Witches, inspired by remarkable friendships, is a story close to my heart. My talented niece, Adeline Titzel, brought the characters to life with watercolor illustrations.
I enjoy meeting young readers and fellow authors. When I'm not lost in a book, I write, draw, and dabble in many artistic endeavors. My adult children continue to be a source of inspiration and encouragement. The strength behind my journey is my amazing husband, Mark.
I am a proud member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators and listed on the Illinois Center for the Book.
